How to prepare your manuscript

Keep in mind that the published product will not match what you create in Word. Once your file enters production, the page layout will change. Preparing your files using the following guidelines will aid the transition to published product that accurately matches your intent.

Preparing your graphics

Suggestions: Images need to be at least 300 pixels for every inch (100 pixels for every cm). Images are typically 3 inches wide (900px) when printed in a two-column format. Be aware that even though your image may look ok on your screen, you need 4 times as many dots for print. The Figures page provides details on how to get the best quality figures into your document.
